The composition is not complex, however, it represents a scene treated by many men of word and fine arts - a howling wolf. Here relief carving is applied and the background - of a tree and a night sky with a bright moon standing high behind the tree branches - is made with the help of toning.
This composition of a wolf chasing a wild boar is carved in mammoth tusk and placed on a stand carved in wood. Natural colouring is applied.
